ThirdRail

_MG_7382_thumbThat feeling when you want to add a bunch of 5V modules to your modular, but you’ve only got 12V power rails… solved!

This easy-peasy DIY build will quickly and easily add a 5V rail to your Eurorack power bus. With the same footprint and 4-pin edge connectors as our MiniBus power distro board, you can build a neat and scalable solution to your 5V power needs in no time at all.

Power is drawn from your existing +12V rail. The 5V regulator is good for up to 1A of current (assuming that your 12V supply can deliver it, of course).

To use, simply connect your existing power supply to the 10-pin input. The five 16-pin outputs can be used immediately, and you can extend the number of outputs by connecting to a MiniBus board via one of the 16-pin headers or one of the four 4-pin edge connectors.

Specifically targeted at entry-level DIY-ers, this project boasts

  • Low part count
  • Clear, simple instructions
  • Complete parts kits, with all parts clearly identified
  • Low tool requirements
